After bringing in veteran quarterback Jameis Winston earlier this week, some fans of the New York Giants expected that the organization might be done addressing the position entering the 2025 NFL season. But it turns out that may not be the case.
Throughout the start of NFL Free Agency, the Giants had been linked to veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. And this has only become more likely by the Steelers signing Aaron Rodgers earlier this week.
The Giants signing Winston perhaps took the possibility of also bringing in Wilson off the table in the eyes of some. But according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who detailed in a report on ESPN’s SportsCenter that there is still a good possibility that Wilson ends up in New York.
“Wilson is still in the mix for the Giants,” said Fowler. “He’s looked at the Giants as a viable option for a while now. And despite that Winston signing, my sense is that the Giants are looking to sign two free agent quarterbacks and then they can still draft one as well. Cleveland also still has interest in Wilson as well.”
Even with them landing Jameis Winston in free agency, the Giants are reportedly not only still in the mix with Aaron Rodgers, who they have an offer out to, but it also doesn’t take them out of the mix for Russell Wilson as well.

Wilson proved this past season in Pittsburgh that he still has what it takes to lead a team to the postseason. And while the Steelers are undoubtedly a more complete team at this point than the Giants, perhaps Wilson could aid the Giants in making the leap back into a contender for a postseason spot in the NFC.
As for who may start in New York between Wilson and Winston, should Wilson sign with the Giants, that will certainly be a topic of conversation in New York throughout the offseason and even more so as we approach training camp this summer.
