Manchester United and Manchester City are both back in Premier League action after the international break
VAR has been a controversial topic since it was brought into the Premier League. Manchester United and Manchester City have had decisions made in games by the technology so far this season both positively and negatively.
United turned to Ruben Amorim as their manager earlier in this campaign. He was brought in as their replacement for Erik ten Hag after catching their eye at Sporting Lisbon over in Portugal.
As for City, they have underperformed by their standards. Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t been able to live up to the heights they have reached over recent times.
Manchester United and Manchester City’s VAR woes in the Premier League this season
United have seen three decisions given in their favour by VAR this term and five given against them. That means they have been have been left worse overall.
It has been a frustrating period for the Red Devils and they find themselves down in 13th in the table. Ten Hag’s tenure didn’t go to plan in the end, despite the fact he won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, and Amorim was brought in to steady the ship.
They have seen an upturn in form over recent weeks and won 3-0 away at Leicester City last time out. The international break has come at an annoying time for them and they will hope to recapture their momentum when they return.
City have had three decisions given for them by VAR and it a surprising turn of events, they haven’t had anything go against them yet. Guardiola’s men haven’t had much luck in terms of their performances this season though and are positioned in 5th place.
They remain in the FA Cup and take on AFC Bournemouth in the next round. However, they are out of the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid.
