Newcastle United were dealt a scare on Friday night.
Less than a week after winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley, Newcastle United figures would no doubt have winced while watching events unfold at the national home of football.
While it was fantastic to see that Dan Burn impressed on his England debut, teammate Anthony Gordon endured a poorer evening.
Brought on as a substitute towards the closing stages of England’s 2-0 win over Albania, the winger required treatment on what manager Thomas Tuchel later confirmed was a hip injury.
Gordon was spotted leaving Wembley with a slight limp and was duly released from the camp on Sunday, meaning he will play no part of Monday’s game against Latvia.
However, some reasonably positive news may have emerged for Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon injury update emerges in boost for Newcastle United
Tuchel admitted he wanted more from players like Gordon, with England’s wide options failing to overly impress against Albania.
With that in mind, it’s a shame the 24-year-old will not be able to stake a starting claim against Latvia on Monday.

Bad news for England, however, could be positive for Newcastle.
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope on social media platform X, Gordon’s injury is not as serious as first feared.
The forward underwent a scan on Saturday and the news is not thought to have been too bad.
Anthony Gordon under a small amount of pressure at Newcastle
Gordon missed the Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool through suspension and cannot play against Brentford when the Premier League returns in early April anyway, following the red card he was shown against Brighton in the FA Cup.
With that in mind, Harvey Barnes has been offered a lifeline.
Indeed, Barnes was brilliant in the Carabao Cup final and will fancy his chances over the next few games, regardless of the state of Gordon’s fitness.
While clearly better to have him fit than not, Gordon has to respond as the campaign draws to a close.
