Eintracht Frankfurt eye summer move for Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool started the season shrouded in uncertainty with questions being asked whether Slot was up to filling the Klopp-sized hole that had been left behind.

These questions were swiftly answered by Slot, as he has broken several records on his way to guiding the Reds to the top of the table with nine games left of the season to go.

A big reason as to why the team have performed so well this season is their ability to maintain their fitness throughout the majority of the campaign.

Our competitors, such as Arsenal and Manchester City, have struggled with injuries, leading to a falloff in the usual quality in performances that we have come to expect from them over the last few years.

Due to the reliance on key players under Slot, the Dutchman has fielded the same eleven players on several occasions.

This has left many players on the periphery of the squad, biding their time for when they will finally be called upon to make a difference. Wataru Endo is part of that group.

The Japanese midfielder has been limited to significantly less appearances than he would have liked this season, with just six starts across all competitions in 2024/25, with zero coming in the Premier League.

Endo is 32 years old, and could be looking for more regular football as he approaches the latter stages of his career.

Eintracht Frankfurt eye summer move for Liverpool midfielder

According to Transfer Market, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to add experience to their midfield and Wataru Endo is on their radar.

Last summer, they attempted to sign Pascal Grob, but the ex-Brighton midfielder chose to sign for Borussia Dortmund instead. Frankfurt’s search was put on hold.

Frankfurt will be back on the hunt for a midfielder this summer and could look to tempt Endo to join their side.

The online publication revealed that if Champions League qualification is secured, it could potentially act as an extra incentive to return to Germany, after previously captaining VfB Stuttgart before his move to Liverpool.

Although Endo’s playing time has dramatically decreased under Arne Slot, he has still been a reliable asset to have in the squad, leading to Liverpool batting away any approaches for him in January.

However, with a big summer transfer window approaching, with many changes rumoured to happen, it remains to be seen whether Endo’s future still lies on Merseyside or if he could be tempted to seek a team with a more urgent need for his services.
