Gunnar Helm meets with Broncos for a second time

Gunnar Helm didn’t have to go far to visit with the Denver Broncos.

The University of Texas tight end — who grew up a Broncos fan — is a Cherry Creek High School product. So, meeting with the Broncos not only was easy, but for the team, painless, because it doesn’t even count toward the 30 in-person visits the club can hold with draft prospects in the weeks leading up to next month’s NFL Draft.

KUSA-Ch. 9’s Mike Klis was first to report the meeting.

Helm was one of at least five tight ends the Broncos are known to have met with at the NFL Scouting Combine late last Month.

“It was a dream come true, obviously,” Helm said last month of his formal interview with the Broncos at the Combine.

“I talked to Coach Sean Payton, GM George Paton, a lot of guys like that [I] would never envision myself being that close and talking to them just about football. But, it goes back to — just dream big. Because if you work at it, if you want to achieve it, you know, if you’re bold enough to say it, then you’re bold enough to do it.”

Helm suffered a sprained ankle while running the 40-yard dash at the Combine, obviously affecting the time that he posted.
