On March 20, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, upon invitation, attended Pakistan's National Day reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan in China, and met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi.
Sun Weidong expressed sincere congratulations on Pakistan's 86th National Day. Sun Weidong said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, good friends, good partners, and good brothers. The two countries have always understood, trusted and supported each other, and the ironclad friendship has grown stronger over time. No matter how the international landscape may evolve, China always prioritizes Pakistan in its diplomacy and is committed to developing an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. China will continue to firmly support Pakistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, support Pakistan in countering terrorism and maintaining social unity and stability, and support Pakistan in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. China's development and growth inject stability and certainty into the world, and Chinese modernization brings new opportunities for the development of Pakistan and other countries.
