Clippers React After James Harden Made NBA History on Sunday

As the Los Angeles Clippers look to move up into sixth place in the Western Conference and avoid the play-in tournament, James Harden continues to move up the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Last Saturday, he trickled up to 12th on that list by surpassing Elvin Hayes with a 25-point game in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. On Sunday, as the Clippers fought against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Harden rose to a higher level on that list.

He moved ahead of late Hall of Famer Moses Malone with his 27,410th career point and now ranks 11th on the league's career scoring list.

"Congrats James Harden."

Malone was one of basketball's underrated legends. In his prime during the late 1970s and early 1980s, he regularly put up at least 25 points a game, and he is one of the game's greatest rebounders ever. He won three league MVPs and was the driving force behind that memorable 1983 Philadelphia 76ers team that won the NBA championship.

Coming into Sunday's game, the Clippers had a 40-30 record and sat in seventh place in the Western Conference. They were just half a game behind the Golden State Warriors, who were in sixth place.

Los Angeles is currently on a five-game winning streak, and Harden has been helping to lead the way. He had 30 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point range, to go along with nine assists, in a 128-108 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

He came into Sunday averaging 22.6 points and 8.7 assists a game, although he's shooting just 39.8% from the field and also averaging 4.4 turnovers a contest.
