Arsenal will likely make several additions to the squad during the summer transfer window.
An elite centre-forward should be the main priority, but the hierarchy could also add more depth in other positions.
Ethan Nwaneri has fared well on the right wing in Bukayo Saka’s injury absence, but his future could be in the number 10 role.
Manager Mikel Arteta may want another solid option in the ranks. Mirror (page 79) claim that Francisco Trincao is on Arsenal’s radar.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is keen on a reunion with the Sporting CP winger, who has 24 goal contributions this term.
The Portuguese could be prised away for around £30 million with his contract expiring next year.
The Gunners should beat the Red Devils to his signature, in our opinion.
Trincao would be a fine deputy for Saka at Arsenal
The 25-year-old is in the peak phase of his career. He has managed 15 goals and nine assists at club level this season, most of them from the right wing.
Aside from his goal involvements, Trincao has also registered an impressive 2.4 dribbles per outing.
He has worked hard off the ball too. The ex-Barcelona man has won almost six duels per appearance with three recoveries and 1.7 successful tackles.
Trincao has made immense progress since his poor loan stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2021/22 and would be a quality acquisition for Arsenal.
Saka, 23, has been exceptional with regular goal contributions, but the Gunners need to handle his workload with some caution to avoid future injuries.
Trincao would be a perfect fit to deputise for Saka when required.
Barcelona have a buy-back option for the attacker, but we don’t see them triggering the clause, considering their financial woes at the moment.
United could be Arsenal’s main rival for the right-sided winger as Amorim could guarantee his compatriot an assured starting position at the Red Devils.
