'It might' - Ryan Giggs makes new Man Utd prediction and his verdict is clear, Red Devils legend drops 'long time' claim

Ryan Giggs has made his feelings and position perfectly clear on Ruben Amorim after the Manchester United manager’s early reign at Old Trafford so far.

Ruben Amorim left Portuguese outfit Sporting CP last November and the 40-year-old Manchester United manager arrived in the Old Trafford dugout in 2024.

The former Sporting CP boss replaced ex-Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at the Premier League club after Amorim’s United predecessor was axed by the Red Devils.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after the Red Devils’ shocking start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign under the Dutchman.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was United assistant manager under Ten Hag, was temporarily appointed Red Devils interim manager ahead of Amorim’s arrival.

Amorim made a real name for himself in his native homeland of Portugal with Sporting CP, including leading his former side to two Primeira Liga titles.

The Portuguese coach has overseen a tough period at Old Trafford amid United’s patchy run of form in the Premier League in the 2024-25 campaign.

Ryan Giggs sends a telling message to Man Utd about former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford

Ryan Giggs has admitted that he is a big fan of Ruben Amorim and the Manchester United legend admires how well the former Sporting CP boss “comes across.”

However, the 51-year-old former Wales boss has warned United that they must back Amorim and ‘stick with him’ if they want the Red Devils manager to succeed.

Giggs is adamant that Amorim is the right man to take United back to the top so long as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are ready to support the Portuguese head coach.

“I like Ruben, I think he comes across well, but he’s got a tough job,” he said, as per The Daily Mirror.

“I think it’s a case of backing him and sticking with him.

“It might be a long time before we bring success back onto the pitch but, from what I’ve seen so far, I believe he’s got a great chance if he is backed, so hopefully he will be.

“It’s such a big club and we had such success for such a long time, you don’t believe it can [go wrong], but it does happen.

“It happened to us before we won the league, it happened to Liverpool and football always goes in cycles.

“But there’s a lot of work to be done because of what’s happened over the past 10 years or so.”

Ruben Amorim must see out Man Utd season on a high note after March international break

Amorim’s men signed off the month of March with United’s 3-0 win over Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City side in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium.

The Red Devils won’t return to action until after the March international break and Amorim will want to see United end their season on a high note.

United languish in 13th place in the Premier League ahead of their trip to City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on 1st April, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.

The Red Devils will also resume their crucial Europa League campaign in April with their encounter against French side Lyon in the quarter-finals of the competition.

United will travel to the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on 10th April for their first-leg tie before hosting Lyon in the return leg at Old Trafford on 17th April.
