Manchester United may not have seen the last of Jadon Sancho despite his loan move to Chelsea.
The £73m spent on Jadon Sancho in 2021 may go down as one of the worst transfers in Manchester United history.
Jadon Sancho struggled to replicate the form he showed at Borussia Dortmund and things went from bad to worse when he had a public fall-out with Erik ten Hag.
A decision was made this summer to offload the young winger and Sancho joined Chelsea on loan. Since joining the Blues, Sancho has struggled at Chelsea.
It was understood that Sancho’s deal included a £23m obligation to buy clause, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Man United fans react to £5m Jadon Sancho clause
United fans thought they had finally seen the back of Sancho when he completed his move to Chelsea. It seems the winger thought the same after Sancho made a petty “freedom” remark towards Marcus Rashford.
But it has now been revealed that Chelsea can cancel the Sancho deal for £5m, which would see him awkwardly return to Old Trafford this summer.
The news has not gone down well with United fans on social media.

Supporters have slammed the club for including a penalty fee, with one fan writing: “This is so unfair. So obligatory loans are essentially useless. This is not a significant penalty.”
Another posted: “Anyone involved in the Sancho loan move to Chelsea should be fired if Chelsea pay the £5m to return him back to Man Utd”
A third fan simply claimed: “We’re getting scammed”…
One supporter added: “What a joke. So it basically wasn’t an obligation. It was essentially a straight loan with a fee, and not even a high fee at that. That’s us stuck with him next season then.”
Finally, a supporter wrote: “Whoever negotiated this kind of deal should be top of Manchester United’s sack list if not sacked already. Obligation to buy for £23m – £25m with exit clause of £5m for a player who earns more than £250k weekly and underperforms sum up how Manchester United have been mismanaged for more than a decade.”
What will Man United do with Jadon Sancho if he returns?
Given that Sancho has underperformed at Chelsea this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Blues splash £5m to send him back to Manchester.
Especially as Chelsea beat United to Geovany Quenda, so they have a young winger lined up to replace Sancho at Stamford Bridge.
Given Sancho’s poor attitude and pettiness towards the club since he left, him staying at Old Trafford is completely out of the question.

If Chelsea do trigger the penalty clause, it will be down to Ineos to find a new club for Sancho in the summer… again.
Sancho was linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and given he has impressed in Germany that would be his most likely destination.
