Aston Villa trio Ezri Konsa, Morgan Rogers and on-loan Marcus Rashford have all been named in Thomas Tuchel’s England matchday squad for Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia at Wembley.

Tuchel has cut three players from his 26-man squad as he can only name 23 players in a matchday squad.

The three players to miss out are Newcastle United duo Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon, who has returned to Newcastle with an injury, and Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Konsa, Rogers and Rashford all played as Tuchel won his first match in charge of the Three Lions, beating Albania 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Friday.

Konsa and Rashford both started the match, while Rogers came on as a substitute.

Speaking ahead of the Latvia match, Konsa says he wants to become one of Tuchel's leaders as the new manager targets World Cup glory.

Asked whether his selection in Tuchel's first game was a vote of confidence, he said: "It was nice. I want to improve how good I am at this level.

"I'm just grateful that the boss put me into the team and hopefully I've shown him what I can do.

"That's something that he told us when he came in, how much he wanted us to be together, even more so than before.

"He wanted leaders and I think for me, especially on a personal level, I think that's something that I want to try and improve on in my game.

"Become more of a leader, and hopefully under the boss I can do more of that."

Assuming there are no disasters in the qualifying campaign, England will be one of the favourites to win the World Cup in North America next summer.

Konsa, 27, says that pressure comes with the territory.

"As players you have got to deal with pressure. That's part of the game, especially the level we are playing at," he added.

"With the team we have got, especially when we are expecting to win something.

"The boss has come to win something, he's got the winning mentality. You can see with his CV how many trophies he has got in his career and he wants to win here."
