Jadon Sancho 'eyed by two clubs' as Chelsea change stance on keeping winger

Jadon Sancho is reportedly being eyed up by Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen after struggling to produce the goods at Chelsea. The winger moved to west London on loan last summer following an underwhelming three-year spell at Manchester United but has contributed just two goals and six assists in 29 appearances for the Blues.

Sancho returned to England in 2021 after joining the Red Devils from Dortmund for £73million. But he fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag and was shipped off to Stamford Bridge. Despite contributing three assists in his first three Premier League matches for the Blues, the 24-year-old has failed to sparkle in the capital and hasn’t scored a goal in his last 18 appearances. And his stint at Stamford Bridge may end in the summer if Chelsea decide to move him on.

Chelsea have an obligation to buy Sancho at the end of the campaign but could force him to return to United if they pay a fine to the Red Devils to cancel the arrangement.

However, according to GIVEMESPORT, the Blues are more likely to honour the obligation and then sell him on in the same transfer window.

And Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen could be queuing up to land him in the summer following his previous endeavours in the Bundesliga.

Sancho joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 and proved to be a revelation at Signal Iduna Park as he racked up 50 goals and 62 assists in 137 appearances.

He then had a second spell at the club last season after returning to Germany on loan from the Red Devils.

United refused to give him another chance to prove himself in the north west this season after deciding to ship him off to Chelsea. He started well at Stamford Bridge but has gone off the boil in recent months.

He will be hoping to prove Enzo Maresca right in the coming weeks, however, after the Chelsea boss lavished him with praise in January.

“For me he’s doing very well,” explained the Italian. “I am quite surprised with Jadon, because I knew Jadon already [from seeing him at his previous clubs] and I know what I expected from him, but in terms of being consistent, he’s doing very well.

“Apart from a short part of the season when he had some problems, when he was out ill, then for the rest he has been very good.

“I expected him to do well, but for all the players doing well for a long period is not easy, and he has been doing well for a long period already. He’s doing well, now he just needs to continue going in that way.”
