Michael Jordan's days in the NBA are long gone but the former Chicago Bulls superstar still has the burning desire to win. As the co-owner of the 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, the 62-year-old NBA legend now finds his competitive fix in the world of auto racing.
However, Jordan's team and Front Row Motorsports are embroiled in a legal drama with NASCAR. The two teams filed an antitrust lawsuit against the stock car series and its chief executive officer Jim France last October.
Earlier this March, NASCAR filed a countersuit against 23XI Racing, Front Row Motorsports and Curtis Polk, who is a long-time advisor of "His Airness", as reported by Dustin Long of NBC Sports.
Amid this developing legal drama, Jordan flew south to Saint Lucia. A post on the Facebook account of the eastern Caribbean island nation's tourism authority showed Jordan posting for a photo with a customs official in the airport.
It's not certain why exactly the six-time NBA champion traveled to Saint Lucia, though, it's not a stretch to think that he simply went there for a vacation.
A 14-time NBA All-Star and a five-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Jordan retired from the league for good at the end of the 2002-03 season.
Since then, Jordan formed a friendship with Hamlin, who used to watch Charlotte Hornets games in person when the Basketball Hall of Famer was still an investor in the NBA franchise. Eventually, Jordan and Hamlin struck a partnership to become co-owners of 23XI Racing in 2020.
