Todd Boehly hints at brand new Stamford Bridge plans as Chelsea owner predicts Behdad Eghbali future

Chelsea fans are beginning to make their discontent for the current ownership and direction of the club heard.

Despite investing more than £1billion into the playing squad since their arrival, it has become clear that not every decision made by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali has proven popular.

Chelsea fans were protesting Boehly in particular ahead of a recent Premier League game against Southampton, as they continue to reject the methods of prioritising signing young players over established stars.

Those in charge will throw the names Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez and Geovany Quenda back, with all three having the potential to dominate the game when they arrive in West London.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly hints at new Stamford Bridge

Another topic that has been contested is the future of Stamford Bridge, with it becoming clear that the Blues are falling behind a bit when it comes to the top stadiums in the Premier League.

After Manchester United’s ambitious announcement for a 100,000+ seater home ground, Boehly was asked about the plans for the Blues in the long-term when it comes to their home games.

The American told Bloomberg that while the location has proven a challenge, the plan is for them to build a new stadium.

He said: “Inside of London it is really complex. We have a lot of constituencies that we care about, certainly the Chelsea fan base is one. Long term I think we are going to be building something new and we will figure it out.”

Todd Boehly on ownership rift

A story that dominated headlines off the pitch earlier this season was a reported rift between both Boehly and Eghbali, where it looked a realistic prospect that at least one of them would be leaving their role.

However, Boehly denied this being true at this stage, and instead stated that the most likely date of a departure will come when a decision is made on the future of Stamford Bridge.

He said: “What the media writes about is not realistic. We’ve been aligned with what we are trying to do and trying to build. The status quo is something that is just fine. We learn from each other.

“We have to think about long-term what we are trying to accomplish, we have a big stadium development opportunity that we have to flush out. And I think that is where we will either align or go different ways. But what has been talked about is a lot more drama than what is actually happening.
