National media absolutely blown away by Everton flop's sensational performance vs Germany

Many of Everton’s sales in recent years have ended up thriving elsewhere.

Antonee Robinson is impressing at Fulham having plied his trade in Everton’s academy whilst teammate Alex Iwobi is also enjoying a productive career in the capital.

Ademola Lookman is another one that the Toffees got wrong, as he’s now ripping it up in Italy for Atalanta.

In fact, Lookman was nominated for the Ballon d’Or award in 2024, with his hat-trick in the Europa League final a notable highlight.

Now it seems Everton may be left ruing another sale after his brace against Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

When Everton paid £37m for Moise Kean back in 2019, it was seen as a real coup as he was considered Juventus’ golden boy.

However, Kean failed to deliver on Merseyside as he netted just four times in 39 appearances before he was sold back to Serie A.

Now, the Everton flop has reinvented himself as one of the best strikers in Italy, scoring 20 goals already this season.

And, Kean continued his prolific form with a brace in a 3-3 draw against Germany on Sunday evening.

Italy’s national media Calcio Mercato labelled him the ‘only light’ in a pretty poor showing from Gli Azzurri.

“In the first half he often gets anticipated, in the second half he changes the face of the game,” the Italian outlet wrote.

“First he takes advantage of the double error of Sané and Kimmich to unleash the goal of 3-1, then he invents his personal brace out of nowhere, skipping past half the German defence and beating Baumann. The only light in a not very positive evening.”

Moise Kean could make Premier League return this summer

Kean’s form since leaving Everton has alerted a number of clubs in the Premier League ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

It’s understood Arsenal have already made contact to sign Kean, whilst West Ham United and Newcastle are keeping tabs.

The former Everton striker has a £44m release clause in his Fiorentina contract, so he’s likely to attract interest from several potential suitors across the continent.

Kean scored one of the best goals of 2025 last month and it evinces a man who’s full of confidence at the moment.

The Italy international is finally fulfilling his potential, it’s just a shame it’s not at Everton.
