David Moyes’ appointment at Everton has changed everything at Goodison Park this season and saved the Toffees’ season.

The Scotsman was brought in to replace Sean Dyche as the Toffees sat just one point above the relegation zone.

Since then, Moyes‘ side are unbeaten in nine of their 10 Premier League games and now sit 17 points above the drop zone.

Martin Keown casts eye on Everton

After a difficult number of seasons, Dyche’s sacking was a long time coming as a breath of fresh air was needed in Merseyside.

Since his replacement, the Blues look like a different team, with players like Jake O’Brien having been re-invented under a new boss.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Dyche has been respectful of his successor since his exit from Goodison, but has spoken about the disrespect he has felt in general for his work with the side.

In Dyche’s mind, the foundations he put in place for Moyes to build on should have earned him more credit since his departure.

However, speaking live on talkSPORT (24 March, 12:16 pm), Martin Keown hit back: “When I see Moyes come in and change Ndiaye in a different role, playing more tucked in, better without possession and then breaking forward with the ball at a high pace, Beto suddenly a different player.

“Then you think, okay, how is it then that Moyes then, is getting it?”

Moyes what Everton needed

You can understand what Dyche is trying to get at, as he did guide Everton through an incredibly tough period, maintaining Premier League status throughout.

The boss has received plenty of credit for that, but it doesn’t mean that he had his side playing perfect football either, and there were plenty of problems, notably with a lack of goal scoring in the team.

There is no denying that Moyes’ impact at Everton has been monumental, and his team do not look scared of having a go and scoring goals while also staying organised at the back of the pitch.

Manager Goals Scored

David Moyes 17

Everton have already scored more goals under David Moyes this season.

Sometimes a change is not a reflection of a manager’s talent, but also the environment and moral,e which certainly felt like it had a part to play in Merseyside.

As Keown suggests, a change this big does not happen by coincidence and whatever Moyes is doing at Goodison is working wonders.

The Blues are preparing for a move to Bramley-Moore Dock at the end of the season and will be looking firmly forward as they hope for much more success in the future.
