The Brazilian forward Geyse has joined Gotham FC on loan from Manchester United. The move comes after the player described feeling “lonely” and being in agony after coming on as a late substitute in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Leicester earlier this month in a social media post.
Her comments came on the same evening that Geyse’s agent claimed United had tried to loan her to other clubs while she attended her brother’s funeral in January.

Writing on Instagram at the time, the Brazil forward wrote: “Staying in a place where we don’t feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling. Every day seems heavier, and the simple fact of being there becomes a burden. The environment, which should be welcoming, becomes a field of discomfort, where inner peace is difficult to find.”
Geyse will play under the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Juan Carlos Amorós at Gotham when the move is finalised, subject to international clearance.
“The loan deal is important to Geyse as we continue to have her wellbeing at the centre of our decision-making,” said United’s interim head of women’s football Matt Johnson. “We wish her well with Gotham.”
Geyse, 26, signed from Barcelona in 2023 and has since scored three goals in 39 appearances for the club.
