Manchester City have not yet discovered if they have been found to have broken the Premier League's Financial Fair Play rules over a nine-year period.
City allegedly breached the Premier League's FFP rules more than 100 times between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, with 115 charges brought against the club by the league in 2023. A three-man panel finished listening to evidence from both sides at the end of last year and a ruling is expected very soon and could even come this week.
According to Premier League rules, if Man City are found guilty of the alleged breaches, then the club faces a possible points deduction or even the threat of expulsion from the Premier League. City deny the charges against them.
Some have even suggested that City should be stripped of any titles won in the period in question. The club won the Premier League three times during this period; in 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2017/18.
Juventus were stripped of two league titles, relegated to Serie B and docked an initial 30 points following the Calciopoli trial 20 years ago so it has happened in football before.
Interestingly, if the charges against City were to be proven and the league attempts to strip the club of the aforementioned three titles, two Arsenal stars would be impacted. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko were part of the 2017/18 title-winning squad, with the club finishing top with 100 points and a massive 19 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United.
Jesus scored 13 goals in 29 league appearances that season and also contributed with three assists. Zinchenko, meanwhile, made just eight appearances but still secured his Premier League winner's medal.
While Arsenal wouldn't be impacted too much as a club by the panel's verdict, Jesus and Zinchenko may be interested to hear the outcome due to the potential punishments mooted.
Last October Jose Mourinho even joked he hoped City would be stripped of the titles, as he would benefit as he was the Manchester United boss between June 2016 and December 2018. "As you know, we won Europa League, we finished second in the Premier League," he told reporters at the time.
"I think we still have a chance to win that league, maybe they punish Man City with points, we win that league. And then [United] have to pay me the bonus and give me the medal!"
