'If you look': Todd Boehly defends his Chelsea plan amid supporter unrest at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea supporters have not been shy to share their feelings about those who are currently in charge of the direction their football club are going in.

Owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have both brunted the majority of criticism as they lead an ambitious project to get Chelsea back to the top of the tree in European football.

Boehly was publicly called out by Blues fans when they protested ahead of Chelsea vs Southampton at Stamford Bridge, although others were quick to point out holes in those complaints.

The American hinted at plans of a brand-new Stamford Bridge to be developed in the future, an area where both owners have reportedly disagreed on in the past.

When the Blues return to action after the international break, they will face nine crucial Premier League games to sustain their place in the Champions League spots.

Despite criticism, where the Blues are in the table is where many would have placed them if they’d had a good season before a ball was kicked, something Boehly was keen to remind everyone of when discussing where they find themselves right now.

He said to Bloomberg: “If you look at the evolution of the team. It’s a team that is young that’s got long contracts. All these things are new. If you look at what’s actually happening, then you’ll see there is core stability and I think we are executing on a plan that will ultimately have Chelsea where they need to be. I mean we are sat in the top four right now.”

Enzo Maresca’s targets for 2024/25

A common story has been that it was demanded of Enzo Maresca to lead Chelsea back into the Champions League places this season, especially after an impressive end to the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino before he was sacked.

However, it has actually been reported that Maresca is untouchable at Chelsea right now, with all signs pointing to those in charge being delighted with the work he has done since joining.

Given the fact that there have already been short stints in charge for Pochettino, Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel since the new ownership took over, they will be desperate for some continuity at the helm.

All signs point to this being the case with Maresca, and the summer transfer window will be a big indicator into how much backing the manager has.
