With wins over the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors, the San Antonio Spurs are riding a three-game winning streak and are two games short of becoming the final team to win five in a row in the 2020s.
With their next two contests coming against the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, the Spurs will certianly have their hands full if they want to hit the milestone, but riding their recent success, the team believes they can make some magic.
After beating the Raptors on Sunday, the Spurs cited their biggest strength.
Without Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox, the Spurs suffered a massive lapse on defense coming out of the All-Star Break, but they seem to have found their footing on that side of the ball.
"I think it's been the defensive end of the floor, honestly. Just going out there and playing hard, being active, getting deflections, steals, whatever it may be," said Julian Champagnie of the recent success.
The Spurs are trying to play quick on both sides of the ball, and constantly keeping their opponents on their back foot has been a calling card.
"Our defense, 100 percent," attributed Vassell to the win streak. "Even in our last game, when we were picking up and just pressuring. As long as we're pressing and being in the passing lanes getting steals and getting out in transition, once we're in transition that's our best offense."

Once Fox and Wembanyama--who are more methodical defenders--return to the lineup next season, Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and Blake Wesley can continue to be high-risk defenders, and they will have a little insurance behind them.
