Jimmy Butler Takes A Jab At ‘Heat Culture’

By the time he was done with the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler was clearly over the team and its famous “culture.”

Now, Butler is opening up about Heat culture, what it means, and why it might be an overused phrase.

“I’m not saying it in a bad way, but I think it’s a little bit, like, overused talking about the ‘Heat Culture.’ It is a great organization. But I think a large part of that culture is you get guys that buy into a (winning mindset). You get some guys that buy in, you get some really good players and you get the opportunity to talk about ‘Heat Culture’ a little bit more. I’m not saying it to talk down or anything, but I think whenever you have really good players you can name it whatever you want to name it,” Butler said, per NBACentral.

Butler feels that it’s the players, not the culture, that makes Miami so special.

For years, “Heat Culture” has been a talking point throughout the NBA.

It’s this chemistry that has led the team to great heights and has helped them repeatedly return to the playoffs and even the NBA Finals.

According to the team, there is an intangible factor among the players, coaches, and staff that makes the Heat stronger than their opponents, even if they aren’t always the top team in the East.

They can never be counted out, partly because of their culture and mindset.

But Butler believes it’s more complicated than that and wanted to give a special nod to the players who make it all possible.

Since losing Butler, the Heat have fallen into quite a rut and are struggling to reach the playoffs.

But if they can rebound, find a new identity, and turn the page, they will probably prove to many people that Heat culture is still alive and should never be counted out.
