Matheus Cunha transfer latest as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham face'competition'for Wolves star

Nottingham Forest are lining up an audacious bid to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, it has been claimed.

The Brazilian is set to attract attention from clubs across the globe in the summer transfer window after impressing for Wolves this season.

Cunha, 25, has scored 13 times and added four assists in 26 matches in 2024/25, averaging a goal every 165 minutes.

Only seven players have found the net more than the ex-Atletico Madrid man in the Premier League, and significant interest is expected to arrive at the end of the campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest, who are on course to qualify for the Champions League, are eyeing a club-record move to sign Cunha.

It was reported in January that Cunha was at the top of Forest's winter shopping list but a deal never materialised and he eventually signed a new contract at Wolves.

As part of Cunha's new deal, he has a £62million release clause. That is expected to be triggered this summer, with Cunha anticipated to leave Wolves.

Forest are set to face competition for his signature, however, as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham remain keen on getting a deal done for Cunha.

Arsenal are desperate to strengthen their front line this summer. A new centre forward is on their agenda and Cunha has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are another that are keen to bolster that area of the pitch. Nicolas Jackson's mixed form and fitness issues have left them light in the attacking area and it's clear that the Blues are missing another route for goals, with Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku struggling to fill the gaping hole.

As for Tottenham, they have endured a disappointing season and more firepower might be needed this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to take Spurs back to fighting for the Champions League places.

Cunha, meanwhile, is currently serving a four-game ban after he was shown a red card for violent conduct during Wolves' FA Cup defeat against Bournemouth.

He had scored a sensational equaliser to put Wolves level, but then got involved in an altercation with Cherries full-back Milos Kerkez.

The Brazil international appeared to punch, kick and headbutt Kerkez and was shown his marching orders.

He was charged by the FA, and following an independent commission, Cunha has been handed a four-game ban - one more game than he was initially expected to serve.
