MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Branthwaite, with a report from Give Me Sport (10 March) suggesting that the Toffees are prepared to offer the Englishman a new deal worth in excess of £100,000 per week, which would equate to £52m per year.

When taking into consideration the position that Everton have been in as of late, and the need for a rebuild over the next few windows, it would simply not make sense to sacrifice such finances into a deal for one player.
Added to that, Everton would likely receive a big transfer fee for his services this summer and would go a long way towards rectifying other areas of the squad that have been left untouched for several years.

Everton must recruit smartly this summer
While Branthwaite’s sale could make sense, there are various other players that simply need to be moved on for Everton to keep moving forward.
Moyes has shown his ability to steady the ship on Merseyside; it is now time for the powers above him to reward him with the tools to go one step further next season.
As for now, the focus will be on results on the pitch, but attention will swiftly turn to the summer window as the season edges closer to completion.
