The federal government has told shoppers to 'immediately stop' using a battery pack because of a fire risk.

Nearly 90,000 Velvet Caviar MagSafe wireless power pack are part of the recall after multiple copies overheated and caught on fire.

The recall affects the 5,000 mAh wireless portable power bank, which was sold through velvetcaviar.com and Amazon, between November 2022 and October 2024.

Velvet Caviar sold the power banks for $65.

The Brooklyn-based company, founded in 2014, is best known for selling trendy, fashion-forward phone accessories, including cases, grips, and chargers.

It said its products were '400 percent more powerful than leading brands' and worked wirelessly with most new iPhone models.

But so far, the company said it received 19 complaints of overheating or fire, with 10 customers reporting minor injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said affected units are marked with the brand name 'Velvet Caviar' on the front and model number ZHX-PB21 on the back.

Customers are complaining on Reddit after a fan-favorite phone accessory was recalled

Customers impacted by the recall can ask for a free replacement from VC Group, Velvet Caviar's parent company.

However, MagSafe customers reported on Reddit that the company is replacing their colorful power banks with standard black chargers.

'I really would like a store credit instead of just a boring black one,' one customer complained.

Multiple Redditors called the replacement option 'unacceptable.'

Owners need to submit photos of their power bank with the word 'Recalled' written in permanent marker through the company's website.

The CPSC also reminds users not to dispose of the battery pack in regular trash or standard battery recycling bins to avoid sparking another fire.

The recalled power banks are now listed as 'unavailable' on Amazon. The remaining product listings show they had 3.6 out of five stars in 23 customer reviews.

Velvet Caviar didn't immediately respond to Daily Mail's request for comment.

The CPSC has issues several large recalls recently - one recall led to a major lawsuit

Thousands of customers have been warned their charging products risk electrocution

More recall news

The CPSC has issued dozens of recent recalls that could impact hundreds of thousands of consumers.

In March, the agency warned that around 61,000 bottles of seltzer sold at Trader Joes shops posed a risk of cutting consumers.

Another recall said an Amazon retailer sold Benadryl products meant for the Canadian market.

Kenvue, the company that sells Benadryl, told DailyMail.com that it was 'investigating this matter.

'It appears this product may have been diverted from Canada and inappropriately sold in the United States by an unauthorized third-party online seller,' a spokesperson alleged.

Finally, Amazon recalled 400,000 products that the CPSC said had posed a threat of electrocution.

The e-commerce giant filed a lawsuit saying the agency's authority is 'unconstitutional.'
