Deion Sanders called out by NFL legend

Deion Sanders is widely regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever grace a football field over the course of his 14-year NFL career. But recently, another great cornerback challenged Sanders’ resume, seemingly claiming to have had a better career than “Primetime”.

Asante Samuel similarly had a great career at the cornerback position, playing 11 seasons and making four Pro Bowl appearances over the course of his career.

In a post on X, Samuel compared his career stats to Sanders’, which outlines how Samuel had just two fewer interceptions in 35 fewer career games. The two also have the same number of Super Bowl victories, and Samuel actually has more interceptions in the postseason.

The overwhelming majority of football fans would undoubtedly say that Sanders was the better player in comparison to Samuel. Especially considering the era that Sanders played in, which saw far fewer passes attempted than the era that Samuel played in.

Still, the counting stats certainly paint a compelling argument for Samuel, who is certainly a player who is perhaps underrated and often forgotten about in comparison to some of the other great cornerbacks in his era, like Champ Bailey or Darrelle Revis.
