US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Jamaica, Guyana, and Suriname on March 26-27 as part of efforts to advance the Trump administration’s foreign policy agenda in the Caribbean, the State Department announced Monday.

During his visit to Jamaica, Rubio is scheduled to meet with leaders from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Haiti, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters.

The trip aims to enhance regional cooperation on key issues, including efforts to curb illegal immigration, counter transnational organized crime, and strengthen economic partnerships between the US and Caribbean nations, she added.
