England manager Thomas Tuchel has stuck to his word to Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford, despite criticising the forward’s performance against Albania.
Rashford, who is currently on loan with Aston Villa, was named in the starting line-up for the 2-0 World Cup qualifying win on Friday night in what was Tuchel’s first game in charge of the Three Lions. After the game, the England boss hinted that he expected more from Rashford and fellow wide man Phil Foden.

"I think both of our wingers who started were not as impactful as they normally can be, or as they normally are in club football,” he said.
"At the moment, I'm not too sure why we struggled to bring the ball to them quicker and to bring the ball in more open positions to them. I need to review the match."
England are back in action on Moday night as they host Latvia in another World Cup qualifier. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Tuchel again addressed the performance of Rashford and Foden.
"I've spoken to both of them, also in front of the group. They know that I appreciate the effort, especially off the ball,” he said. "We can see in the numbers and when we watch the match again how much effort they put into defending high and into the counter-press, also in their sprinting numbers.
"Marcus had a lot of runs when we had the ball, where we did not see him, where we did not use him. He was a little bit unlucky maybe with the timing. From time to time we oversaw him.”
He however made a promise to Rashford and his teammates ahead of the game against Latvia.
"At the moment, no one will be dropped from a performance point of view,” Tuchel added. “We did what was needed [against Albania]. We can do better and have stuff to improve and we will focus on that.
“If we think some fresh legs can help then we're not shy to do it. But no one needs to be dropped because he's not good enough."
Tuchel’s team selection against Latvia has seen him stick to that promise. Despite hinting that he expected more, Rashford has been given another chance to impress his new international manager after being named in the starting line-up for the second game in a row.
Fellow winger Foden has however dropped out of the starting XI with Jarrod Bowen coming in. The other three changes see Reece James, March Guehi and Morgan Rogers replace Kyle Walker, Dan Burn and Curtis Jones.
