Should Liverpool spend€90m to bring this striker back to England?

Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and England

Liverpool want to sign a new centre-forward during the summer transfer window and according a report in El Nacional, the Premier League giants might be making plans to bring Harry Kane back to England.

Arne Slot does not have faith in Darwin Nunez and the manager is planning to get rid of the South American at the end of the ongoing season. He wants to replace him with a world-class striker and Harry Kane is one of the names on Liverpool’s wishlist.

Kane has expressed his happiness with his time in Germany and he’s been largely successful with Bayern Munich. However, many think the striker has unfinished business in England and would love to come back to his homeland and find success in the Premier League.

Harry Kane’s rumoured release clause:

The England international is said to have a €80 million release clause on his contract but there are rumours that this amount will come down to €65 million at the start of 2026.

Bayern Munich haven’t confirmed or denied this report but most reports are confident that Bayern will not stand in his way if a lucrative offer is tabled. Some reports are also claiming that the Bavarians will ask for around €90 million next summer if a club wishes to sign Harry Kane.

Should Liverpool splurge so much on Harry Kane?

There are definitely some debates over the number but even if he’s valued at €90 million, Liverpool will give it some serious thought.

Harry Kane had a super successful time in England and the only reason why he went to Germany was to win silverware. He played almost 450 senior games for Tottenham, scoring 279 goals. He’s netted 76 goals in 82 appearances for Bayern since 2023 and this season, he has an xG of 16.6 from 87 shots in the Bundesliga. Kane’s not only a prolific goal-scorer but the England international is also a proper team player because apart from 21 league goals this campaign, he’s also provided six assists and has helped create 26 major chances.

The only hesitation Arne Slot will have is the fact that Kane will be 32 years old in July and at best, he has two or three top-flight seasons left in him.

If Harry Kane is available for around €65-70 million, then going after him is a no-brainer but if Bayern Munich demand €90 million, Liverpool will be better off spending money on a young talent like Gyokeres or Alexander Isak.

Sporting are reportedly willing to accept a cut-price deal for Viktor Gyokeres which means he could be available for around €70-80 million and while Liverpool will have to shell out about €100 million on Isak but the Newcastle United man is currently one of the best strikers in European football.
