Pascal Struijk has been linked with an exit from Leeds United on more than one occasion.

Leeds will be in for a huge summer, regardless of whether or not they achieve a return back to the Premier League, and the future of several players will come into question.

Struijk has played an integral role for the Whites this season, though as the campaign has panned out, concerns have emerged as to his ability to play alongside Joe Rodon, who himself has been one of the standout players at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side are eyeing a new defender ahead of the transfer window, which could potentially ramp up the interest in Struijk elsewhere.

Farke eyeing reunion for Monchengladbach defender

Leeds United had been linked with a move for Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi in the winter, and according to a report from Give Me Sport (23 March) that interest will persist through to the summer.

Elvedi is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League, showcasing that any deal is likely to hinge on Leeds’ ability to get promoted this season.

Struijk has featured regularly since joining Leeds in 2018.

Given the reputation he has in Germany, he would not be coming to Elland Road to play as backup, and given the form of Rodon throughout the season, he deserves his shot back in the Premier League.

Any deal would then likely see Struijk fall somewhat out of favour, which could, in turn, tempt Leeds into a sale this summer.

Leeds cannot get distracted in promotion bid

While recruitment will be important this summer, it means nothing if Leeds fail to make it over the promotion finish line.

With eight games remaining, the Whites still have plenty of work to do in order to secure their status back in the Premier League.

For that to be achieved, Leeds need to improve their performances on the pitch which have led them to just one win in their last four Championship encounters, forcing the promotion race wide open.
