The Celtics will have some reinforcements back in the lineup Monday night when they take on the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center. Kristaps Porzingis (rest) and Jrue Holiday (shoulder) are off the injury report entirely after sitting out Sunday’s win over the Blazers so both players will be available in Sacramento.
Jaylen Brown has been upgraded to questionable for the first time in a week after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his knee. The All-star has missed three straight games dating back to Tuesday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets back in Boston. Joining him as questionable on Monday’s injury report is Sam Hauser (back soreness). Hauser played 39 minutes on Sunday night, his second highest total of the season.
Al Horford (toe) unsurprisingly has been ruled out after playing the first half of Boston’s back-to-back. Xavier Tillman (knee) also remains out for the fourth straight game. Jayson Tatum was not listed on Monday’s injury report after appearing as questionable before Sunday’s game against the Blazers.
The Celtics will be going for their sixth straight win against a Kings squad in a heated battle for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. Sacramento may have star center Domatas Sabonis back in the lineup after the big man was upgraded to questionable on Sunday. He had missed two games due to a sprained ankle. Starting guard Malik Monk is also questionable for Sacramento due to illness. The Kings currently sit 1.5 games above the Suns and Mavericks for the No. 9 seed in the West.
The Celtics are in the third leg of a season-high six-game road trip on Monday. They will be looking for some revenge against the Kings Monday night after suffering an ugly 114-97 home loss to Sacramento back on January 10. The two teams will tip off on Monday night at 10 p.m. at Golden 1 Center.
