Suns’ Kevin Durant named Western Conference Player of the Week

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, the NBA announced.

The forward has been an integral part of Phoenix’s three-game winning streak, averaging 27.3 points on 64.7% shooting and 47.1% from 3-point land. He added 4.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists across that span.

But it was his 42-poiunt outburst in Phoenix’s 123-112 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers that likely solidified his place as Western Conference Player of the Week.

It marked Durant’s 72nd 40-point game, which is good enough for ninth all-time.

NBA Player of the Week nods keep coming for Suns’ Kevin Durant

Monday’s award marks the future Hall of Famer’s 33rd Player of the Week nod.

He now sits tied with the late Kobe Bryant for the second-most weekly awards in NBA history.

Only LeBron James and his 69 weekly honors sit ahead of the duo.

The 10th-seeded Suns are back in action Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. and can be heard on the Arizona Sports app, 98.7 and ArizonaSports.com.
