Endrick: “I’m afraid of not being at the 2026 World Cup”

[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) forward Endrick spoke to Romario about his fear of not making the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in USA. He talked about his struggles and fear in an interview with Romario. He said: “To tell the truth, what goes through my mind a lot is that I’m afraid of not being at the World Cup. You went through that too, my father even told me that you were waiting and weren’t \[called up\]. So I have that fear. Because it’s a dream of mine. It’s even difficult to say because I want to be at the World Cup and help Brazil win its sixth title.”

### Endrick on not being able to play much for Real Madrid

“Of course it’s difficult, being in the biggest club in the world, with the best players and not having the opportunity to always play. But whenever I play, I can show a bit of my game to be in the national team. I hope that next year I can be in the national team and, God willing, we will win the World Cup.”

### Endrick on expecting to make the preliminary squad for international games

“It happened twice, last time and the one before last. I really didn’t expect it the second time because I didn’t play any games. But in this last call-up I was able to show my worth in the Copa del Rey, scoring goals. Waiting to be called up and not being called up, you feel... What more could I have done to be called up? Of course everyone here deserved to be called up. But those on the shortlist expect to be called up, it’s not just me.”

### What Endrick was feeling after not being called up

“When I’m not called up, I think about what I could have done more to be there. Everyone’s dream is to be on the Brazilian national team. This time I was very, very sad, I was very shaken. But I always thank God. When I wasn’t called up, I also thanked and blessed those who were going to come. Because they could be the ones who win the sixth title. What matters most is being champion, no matter who is there.”
