The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason has largely turned into Aaron Rodgers-watch, as the team anxiously awaits the legendary quarterback's decision on what his playing future holds. However, they aren't sitting on their hands waiting for Rodgers to make a decision, as the team made an interesting roster move on Monday.
The Steelers, along with the New York Giants, are the two teams left in the running for Rodgers, and they turned heads when they brought him in for a free agent visit last week. According to reports, Rodgers already has the parameters of a contract with Pittsburgh in place, adding more fuel to the fire that he will eventually sign with them.
"The Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have had contract parameters in place for weeks, sources say, and money wasn't a discussion point during today's visit. It was a chance for both sides to get to know each other. The Giants also remain involved. The decision is in Rodgers' hands," Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported.
All signs are pointing to Rodgers landing with the Steelers, but until pen is put to paper, nothing will be official. The team is intent on upgrading their roster, regardless of who their quarterback is, though, which led them to claim recently released offensive lineman Lecitus Smith on Monday.
"Steelers claimed 2022 sixth-round pick OG Lecitus Smith per the NFL transactions report. After being drafted by the Cardinals, Smith bounced around practice squads and eventually landed with New England. He played 8 games and started one last season," Brooke Pryor of ESPN reported on X.

Smith played eight games for the New England Patriots last season, before getting released last week. Now, he lands with the Steelers, where he will have a chance to compete for a spot on their roster. Smith is formerly a sixth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals from the 2022 NFL draft.
