Quinn Ewers is having dinner with the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, as first reported by SI.com's Albert Breer.
Breer put that nugget in his Monday Morning Quarterback column, and a league source confirmed the news to Inside the Saints on Athlon Sports. His market is pretty hot right now, as he is also meeting with the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers and then the Miami Dolphins after Pro Day.
Just as newsworthy is what's happening around Ewers's pro day. The plan is for him to meet with the Jets and Las Vegas Raiders today and have dinner with the New Orleans Saints brass tonight, with all three teams expected to send big crews to Austin. He's already has 30 visits set up with the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Raiders for early April.
The Saints met with Ewers at the NFL Scouting Combine, and there's a good bit of interest from New Orleans here. It's also not the first quarterback they've got a closer look at either, as they were also at Miami's Pro Day on Monday getting a lot at prospects like Cam Ward.
Ewers played 14 games for the Texas Longhorns last season, finishing 293/445 (65.8%) for 3,472 yards, throwing 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in the process. He's been their quarterback since 2021 after transferring from Ohio State.
As of right now, the Saints have expressed their desire publicly for Derek Carr to be their starter in 2025. There has been some stress on the relationship between the team and Carr's camp following what transpired from Kellen Moore's opening press conference, and other things have came out as a result.
New Orleans may have Carr in the building for this season when it's all said and done, but the 2026 plan is up in the air. The Saints need to figure out whether or not Spencer Rattler is their guy moving forward or invest in a quarterback. Trading all the way up for Cam Ward seems highly unlikely and unrealistic at this point, especially given the team's mindset of competing this season.
