Kings Make Massive Malik Monk, Devin Carter Announcement Ahead of Celtics Game

The Sacramento Kings will look to end their losing streak on Monday when they take on the red-hot Boston Celtics.

Sacramento enters Monday's contest having lost two consecutive games and they have also dropped seven of their last 10 contests.

Monday's matchup with the Celtics will be another tough test as Boston enters the game amid a five-game winning streak and they have also won nine of their last 10 contests.

To make matters worse for the Kings, they made a disappointing announcement regarding the availability of Malik Monk and Devin Carter ahead of Monday's game.

Sacramento has ruled out both Monk and Carter for their game against the Celtics due to both of them dealing with an illness.

From Kings:

INJURY UPDATE vs. Boston Celtics 3/24

Devin Carter (Illness) - OUT

Doug McDermott (Right Elbow) - OUT

Malik Monk (Illness) - OUT

Domantas Sabonis (Right Ankle) - AVAILABLE

This is a massive blow for the Kings who will now be even more shorthanded in the backcourt, which has been a major issue since they traded away De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline.

With Monk out, Keon Ellis will likely draw another start like he did in Saturday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Markelle Fultz should also see an increase in minutes with both Monk and Carter sidelined.

Sacramento also ruled out Doug McDermott for Monday's contest due to a right elbow injury.

The good news for the Kings is that Domantas Sabonis is available to play in Monday's game against Boston after missing a week due to an ankle injury.

Sabonis' return comes as a surprise as he was expected to miss more time than he has, but it is a great thing for the Kings, especially with them being shorthanded for Monday's matchup.

Even with Sabonis back, the Celtics will be a tough matchup for the Kings with Monk and Carter out and they will need DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Keegan Murray to step up in their absence.

Fans can catch Monday's matchup between the Celtics and Kings at 10:00 p.m. EST.
