For the second consecutive game, the Indiana Pacers had their normal starting lineup featuring Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Pascal Siakam, and Myles Turner. Indiana scored the first four points of the quarter to take an early four-point lead. Minnesota countered with four points to tie the game. The Pacers lead hit a first quarter high eight points when Obi Toppin converted a driving layup with 5:22 left in the quarter. Indiana’s offense stalled, scoring just eight points the rest of the quarter. The defense for the Pacers kept them in the game, and with the lead, after twelve minutes of play. Minnesota trailed Indiana 25-23 after the opening quarter. Toppin and Aaron Nesmith led the Pacers, and all players, in scoring with 5 points. Minnesota was led in scoring by Rudy Gobert, Anthony Edwards, and Naz Reid with 4 points in the first quarter. Indiana held Minnesota to 37.5% from the field and 27.3% on three-pointers in the quarter. Indiana also struggled from deep, shooting 22.2% in the first quarter.

Nearly two minutes into the quarter, Minnesota tied the game at 27 with a Mike Conley layup. That was the last time that Minnesota would draw even with Indiana. The Pacers came out of the timeout with an 8-0 run with Bennedict Mathurin scoring six points. Minnesota chopped the Indiana lead in half with back-to-back field goals, but that lead was extended shortly thereafter with back-to-back triples from Toppin. Indiana was on top 41-33 after the second three from Toppin in the quarter. The largest advantage for the Pacers in the first half was thirteen points, twice on field goals from Nesmith. At halftime, Indiana was on top 54-48 after a 9-2 run by Minnesota to close the half. Toppin and Mathurin paced Indiana in scoring with six points in the quarter. Edwards was the Timberwolves leading scorer with 8 points in the period on 4/5 shooting. He led all players in scoring with 12 first half points. Indiana was led in scoring by Toppin with 11 points. Haliburton was having a strong first half with 9 points and 6 assists. Gobert was dominating the Pacers inside with 8 points and 13 rebounds in the first half.

Indiana opened the second half with Haliburton taking the game over. He forced Minnesota to take a timeout sixty-five seconds into the half with five quick points out of the locker room. Nesmith would deliver a three a minute later to extend the Pacers lead to a game high fifteen points. However, Minnesota fought back with a 7-0 burst to make it a 65-57 game following the lone three-pointer of the game for Edwards. Rick Carlisle called a timeout to regroup his team, and they responded with a 12-0 run to take a twenty-point lead with 5:37 left in the third quarter following another three-pointer from Haliburton. Indiana’s advantage would hit a game high twenty-two points when Toppin splashed his third three-pointer of the quarter. It was the final scoring of the quarter, that put the Pacers ahead 95-73. Haliburton led all players in scoring in the period with 13 points while dishing out three assists. Toppin had 9 points in the quarter as well for the Pacers. Minnesota’s leading scorer was Naz Reid with 6 points. Haliburton took over as the game’s leading scorer with 22 points whilst recording 9 assists after three quarters.

On Saturday night, the Pacers were in a similar position going into the fourth quarter against the Brooklyn Nets. They were up 20 but gave up a 21-2 run to start the fourth quarter to make it a one-point game. Minnesota started the final period on a 9-0 run to draw within thirteen points with 9:05 left in the game. Indiana called a timeout and scored four points right out of it to go right back up seventeen points. The advantage for the Pacers would hover between thirteen and seventeen points following that run by the Timberwolves, but neither team went on an extended run in the final 9:05. The sequence that resulted in Minnesota emptying its bench was when Turner recorded his fourth block of the game to setup a Siakam dunk in transition with 3:23 left in the contest. With 1:37 left in the game, Indiana emptied its bench with 115-98 lead. Indiana extends its winning streak with a 119-103 victory over the Minnesota.
