Suns’ Kevin Durant Makes NBA History After Latest Honor

The Phoenix Suns have had a disappointing season thus far but they have been on a hot streak recently.

Phoenix entered Monday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks amid a three-game winning streak and they have also won six of their last 10 games.

With their recent hot stretch, the Suns have closed in on the Dallas Mavericks for the final Play-In spot in the Western Conference, but they currently sit half of a game behind them for the spot.

Of course, Kevin Durant has played a major role in Phoenix's recent success and he was rewarded as the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week award on Monday.

Durant was very deserving of the honor after he led the Suns to a perfect 3-0 record last week despite being without star guard Bradley Beal and Durant also finished the week averaging 27.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 58.8% from the field.

This marks Durant's 33rd career Player of the Week award which made NBA history as he is now tied with Kobe Bryant for the second most in league history.

Of course, Durant still has a long way to catch LeBron James for the all-time lead as James has 69 career Player of the Week awards.

While Durant will likely not catch James for the top spot in NBA history, this feat shows just how great of a player he has been and that he is still one of the league's best players despite nearing the end of his career.

This season, the 36-year-old forward is averaging 26.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.8% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range.

With Durant still playing at a high level, he now needs the rest of the Suns roster to step up as they continue to fight for their playoff lives with the postseason right around the corner.
