Arsenal handed major Alexander Isak transfer update amid£58.5m Viktor Gyokeres agreement

Arsenal are expected to pursue the addition of a striker to Mikel Arteta's squad in the summer transfer window. The likes of Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak have all been linked with filling that void at Emirates Stadium, but it is the latter that appears the priority.

The Newcastle star has been in sensational form this season with his goals helping towards a stunning Carabao Cup triumph.

Meanwhile in Germany, Sesko has continued finding the back of the net on a regular basis for RB Leipzig with a gentleman's agreement potentially allowing him to leave this summer.

As for Gyokeres at Sporting CP, following a challenging few weeks due to fitness issues, he is back firing in the goals. With that being said, football.london has highlighted two big updates that could impact Arsenal's search for an elite-level striker signing.

Isak update

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are not the only club showing a keen interest in Isak with Premier League leaders Liverpool and Spanish giants Barcelona both keeping tabs on his situation.

And according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, he is open to joining the latter but their financial situation makes it tricky and his preference would be joining the Reds if they were to make an offer.

football.london says: This update can be taken two ways with one benefiting Arsenal and the other not so much. The Swede's stance on joining either of those two clubs suggests he is open to a transfer but the main drawback is that he may favour both over Arsenal.

Considering the two teams are top of their domestic tables, it is hardly surprising Isak would not want to at least be intrigued by that avenue despite Newcastle's recent success. Securing Champions League football on top of that however could be enough to see him stay

With that said, Arsenal are still certainly in the race for his signature even though a hefty amount will be required to sign him.

Gyokeres agreement

A big transfer agreement has already been reached for Gyokeres ahead of the summer. According to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, he can leave Sporting CP for a fee between £50.2million (€60m) and £58.5million (€70m).

Despite links to Nottingham Forest, it has been noted the current trend indicates he will not be heading to the City Ground. Previous reports suggested he had a release clause worth £84million (€100m), but that no longer looks to be the case.

football.london says: That is hopefully one less club to worry about if Arsenal choose to pursue Gyokeres and that asking price makes it an even more tempting deal.

It is likely Isak will cost double that and it is hard to argue the Newcastle star is twice the player of his national teammate. There is also seemingly far less competition for his signature and therefore it could make more sense that Gyokeres is the one targeted.

The only slight concern will be the difference in Premier League minutes, but Gyokeres has excelled in the Championship and on the Champions League stage which certainly shows he is capable.
