Erik ten Hag will work with£46m star he wanted to sign at Man United if he joins Juventus

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is eyeing up a new job at a Champions League club.

Erik ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United in October after a poor start to the 2024/25 season. Ineos quickly decided to replace him with Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils were sat 14th in the Premier League table when Ten Hag was dismissed, and under Amorim they have only climbed one position.

Ineos spent over £10m sacking Ten Hag, and the Dutchman has taken a break from management since leaving Old Trafford. Ten Hag was “devastated” after being sacked.

Ten Hag has been linked with RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and clubs in the Netherlands, but now reports suggest he has his sights set on another vacancy.

In an interview just a few weeks ago, Ten Hag hinted he may never return after enjoying a new role with his family.

But a return could now be on the cards with talkSPORT reporting that Ten Hag is keen on the Juventus job.

Thiago Motta was sacked by the Italian giants on Sunday, and they are now looking for a new manager to lead their charge for Champions League qualification.

Roberto Mancini, Stefano Pioli, and Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini are also in the running for the Juventus job, so Ten Hag has plenty of competition.

Igor Tudor has been appointed as a short-term manager for the remainder of the season, but Juventus are looking for a new long-term replacement.

Erik ten Hag will work with Man United target Teun Koopmeiners

If Ten Hag does get the Juve job, he will be united with a few players that United have wanted to sign.

The first is 27-year-old midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. During his time in Manchester, Ten Hag wanted to sign Koopmeiners before he completed a £46m move to Juventus.

Ten Hag was familiar with Koopmeiners having faced him during his time in charge of Ajax. Koopmeiners starred for AZ in the Netherlands before he made a move to Atalanta in 2021.

Additionally, United wanted to sign Dusan Vlahovic when Ten Hag was searching for a new striker. The 25-year-old forward remained at Juventus and Ten Hag may finally get his chance to coach the Serbian.

In the summer, United were heavily linked with Randal Kolo Muani – another Juventus player who soon may be playing under Ten Hag.
