Harry Kane is eyeing a return to the Premier League this summer as Liverpool have moved to the front of the queue for his signature.
That is according to former Man United and Tottenham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 31-year-old has his heart set on breaking the goalscoring record.
Kane is believed to have a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract which has alerted “all of England’s top clubs” to his availability.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man United’s owners are pushing to sign Kane as they plan to make him their marquee signing at Old Trafford.
However, Arne Slot wants to sign a world-class forward and Liverpool are now preparing to make a move this summer despite rival interest.
The England forward has scored 76 goals and provided 23 assists in 82 appearances for Bayern since leaving Tottenham in 2023.

Liverpool lead Man United in race to sign Harry Kane
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider in February that Kane would cost a total of £100million plus £400,000-a-week in wages.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that interested clubs will have to consider whether they can afford to bring him to the club.
“He has his heart set on breaking Alan Shearer’s record,” he told Football Insider.
“Coming back to the Premier League is the first step towards doing that, so I think he’ll be looking at his options in the summer.
“He would start for any of England’s top clubs, but can they afford his asking price and wages?
“There’s been so much talk about it, and from what I hear he wants to come back to England.
“Man United are in for him, he’s been a long-term target there, but can they afford it?
“The other option is Liverpool.
“They’re more financially stable and the manager wants to strengthen his attacking options this summer with a new centre-forward.
“There aren’t many better out there than Harry Kane, so I don’t doubt they’re interested.
“I think they’d be at the front of line for him if he did become available.”

Arne Slot planning summer spending spree at Anfield
Alongside the addition of a new striker, Slot is planning to strengthen his squad across a number of positions to boost their chances of another successful season.
One key position has been at left-back amid uncertainty about Andy Robertson’s future, as he is set to hold talks about his future at Liverpool.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 24 March that Kerkez wants to join Liverpool and has told friends of his desire as he prepares to leave the Vitality Stadium.
Slot has identified Kerkez as his top target at left-back, while Liverpool are also considering Fulham star Antonee Robinson as a potential alternative.
