Former Arsenal striker diagnosed with tuberculosis
Ex-Arsenal star Lucas Perez has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis, according to a heartbreaking report.
The Spanish striker, who now plays for Dutch side PSV, is set to be sidelined for a long time with the illness.
According to De Telegraaf, it is doubtful Perez will play again this season.
In a statement on their website, PSV said: "One of the players of PSV 1 has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis. The player is doing well under the circumstances.
"Although the chance of further infection is small, the situation is being closely monitored according to the standard protocols of the GGD.
"The situation was reported to GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. The attending pulmonologist, the PSV medical staff and the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost immediately took all necessary measures.
"Among other things, a source and contact investigation was started and those involved were informed.
"Together with GGD Brabant-Zuidoost, the standard protocols will continue to be followed and implemented.
"For now, there are no indications that people in the vicinity of the infected player have been infected."

Major transfer change in works
Premier League chiefs are reportedly set to hold talks over a potential change to the summer transfer window.
Last summer the transfer window closed on August 31, 2024, and this summer it will open officially on June 12.
However, new plans could see the 2025 summer window closed on August 14, two days BEFORE the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The measure, put forward in early February at a meeting between the sporting directors of Prem clubs, is not new to English football, having been introduced and later abandoned in 2018 and 2019.
Club chiefs will discuss the proposal in a meeting on Thursday, as reported by The Telegraph.
Passing the change will require a super-majority of 14 clubs, although if preliminary discussions indicate a lack of support it may be struck down before a vote.
The main argument in favour of the move is sporting directors believing the integrity of the league would be better served by stopping all trading before the season starts on August 16.
Additional discussions have proposed cutting the January transfer window down to just two weeks to minimise disruption to squads during the season.

Thomas Tuchel will show no mercy to Prem bosses by refusing to rest England stars.
And that is because the Three Lions chief says his club counterparts do not care about international managers.
The German said: “Given the fact Declan Rice played in the second leg with Arsenal after a 7-1 first-leg lead, I didn’t have the feeling they think so much about us.
“So I don’t think we have to break our heads about this.
“I take care of the players. We take care about the schedule. But it would be the wrong signal to tell players now ‘you have tough (club) matches coming up, so I rest you now’.
“We have a qualifier to play, we do what’s good for us. We are in contact with the clubs, we are in high-level monitoring where the fitness statuses are known and we won’t take any unprofessional risks.”

Lee Carsley on Nwaneri's goal
The England U21s manager said: "It's definitely a finish that he's got. Everyone knows exactly what's going to happen but you just cannot stop it. He took his goal so well. But what we have to keep remembering is that he's 18. Unbelievable, innit?
"We just have to encourage these guys. It's important the rest of the team support him as well, because I'm not sure it's always going to be as progressive as it is. So it's important that we're there when things aren't so well. But, God, what an impression he's made."

Gunners eye Sane
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, and they could land the German on a free transfer.
Mikel Arteta knows the forward from his time as a coach at Manchester City.
Sane has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season.
The German would give Arteta more much-needed options for his front line.
Arsenal have struggled at the top end of the pitch this season due to injuries to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, which has kept them out for the large part.

Which striker should Arsenal buy?
Injuries have forced Arsenal to play Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker, adding fuel to the fire around their lack of signings.
However, even if Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz had not been injured the Gunners would still be lacking in firepower.
Arsenal's issue is every top club appears to be in a similar situation as they search for the next great goalscorer; there simply are not enough top strikers to go around at the moment.
We take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the strikers that Arsenal will be considering this summer.

Myles too good
Declan Rice has singled out Myles Lewis-Skelly after his England heroics on debut.
The Arsenal teenager netted on his first senior appearance in a 2-0 win over Albania.
Rice said: "He's done exactly what he's been doing for Arsenal.
"He's been fearless and confident in his own ability.
"Even just speaking to some of the lads here, they're really taken back by his confidence, but in a good way, in terms of how he handles himself and steps up to the occasion.
"Usually, you get a lot of 18-year-olds who will make their debut and maybe be a bit shy, but the way he carried himself in the changing room, he was even talking before the game."
