SINGAPORE - Six men, aged between 43 and 73, will be charged in court on March 26 over dangerous driving in separate incidents that resulted in injuries or damage to government property.
In all the cases, which occurred between Aug 28, 2024, and Jan 17, 2025, the men allegedly failed to stop at red light signals, police said on March 25.
One of the drivers, a 73-year-old repeat offender, failed to stop at the red light at the junction of Clementi Road and Maju Drive on Aug 28, 2024. He collided with another car that was turning right, causing injuries to the driver.
For that, he could be fined up to $20,000 and jailed up to four years as a repeat offender.
On Aug 29, 2024, a 44-year-old lorry driver rammed into a motorcycle after beating the red light at the junction of Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim and Tuas West Road. The motorcyclist sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured wrist.
The lorry driver will be charged with dangerous driving causing grievous hurt, and faces a jail term of between one and five years.
In another case on Dec 30, 2024, a 46-year-old taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and knocked down an electrical box after running a red light at the junction of Lorong 22 Geylang and Guillemard Road.

He will be charged with dangerous driving, and, if found guilty, may be fined up to $5,000 and sentenced to 12 months behind bars.
A 57-year-old car driver will also be charged with dangerous driving causing hurt for driving through a red light on Jan 17, 2025, at the junction of Toh Guan Road and Jurong East Central, and colliding with another car.
The crash injured four people – the driver and two passengers of the other car, as well as a passenger in the suspect’s car.
The 57-year-old faces a fine of up to $10,000 and jail of up to two years.
All six suspects to be charged on March 26 may be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles.
