Is Fortnite down? Servers go offline before Fortnite OG season three

Fortnite OG season three starts on Tuesday

Fortnite is scheduled to go down on Tuesday morning as Epic Games prepares to launch an update that will kick start Fortnite OG season three.

For those out of the loop, it is the throwback mode that lets players revisit remixed versions of classic seasons from chapter one, when the battle royale first took off. The latest update will introduce a new OG Pass packed with modified versions of classic skins and cosmetics.

Here’s what you need to know about Fortnite downtime, including when the game will be back online.

How long is Fortnite down?

Fortnite is due to go down at 9am in the UK as part of planned maintenance and Epic will disable matchmaking a few minutes beforehand. As a result, none of the game’s main modes will be playable, including Battle Royale and Zero Build.

Players who try to log in will be stuck on a loading screen until Epic finishes implementing the latest update.

In the past, downtime for smaller updates like Tuesday’s have lasted three hours, and the game came back online at noon in the UK.

Fortnite OG season three – what to expect

Rewinding the clock to 2018, Fortnite OG season three will bring at least seven reworked skins inspired by classic outfits. It’s unclear whether these remixed designs will be split between the new OG Pass and the Fortnite shop but eagle-eyed fans have already spotted fresh takes on Raven, Rex and the Astronaut in Epic’s latest teaser.

The clip showcases a nostalgic arsenal of weapons, including guided missiles, the hand cannon, hunting rifle, heavy shotgun, clingers and the ever-chaotic port-a-fort.

Long-time players will instantly recognise the nods to season three’s space theme, which set the stage for one of Fortnite’s first major in-game events.

As the season unfolded, shooting stars began streaking across the sky before transforming into small meteorites that pelted the island. Then came the big one – a massive meteor that loomed over the map before crashing into Dusty Depot, leaving behind the Dusty Divot crater.

Inside the impact zone, players discovered a mysterious pod containing the Visitor – a pivotal character who would go on to shape Fortnite’s tangled lore.
