‘Pay Attention To Liverpool And Arsenal’–Report Claims£54M Rated Defender Has Several PL Teams Pursuing Him

Liverpool and Arsenal are now vying with Manchester City for the signature of Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso, according to reports in Italy.

Pep Guardiola’s side were tipped to make an offer for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window.

That bid neither materialised but TMW claim that the Cityzens retain an interest in Cambiaso and they could well be joined by the Reds and the Gunners in a summer transfer battle:

“The Cambiaso issue must always be monitored. The Juventus winger is liked by many European clubs. Manchester City are undoubtedly the ones who are keeping up the pressure, but also pay attention to Liverpool in particular and Arsenal… For Juventus, the valuation is around 65 million euros (£54m).”

Why is Cambiaso in such high demand?

The defender has firmly established himself as a regular starter for Juve this season and the fact that he is both-footed means he is equally comfortable playing as a right-back or left-back.

City are looking for a replacement for Kyle Walker on the right-hand side of defence, while Liverpool are hoping to bring in a younger alternative to Andy Robertson. Arsenal, meanwhile, have plenty of fullbacks already so their interest is slightly more surprising.

Liverpool may need to replace Alexander-Arnold too

In addition to strengthening at left-back, it is increasingly likely that Arne Slot’s side will soon require reinforcements on the opposite flank.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is no indication that he will put pen to paper on an extension. There are even suggestions in the Spanish media that a move to Real Madrid is all but done.

In that context, the interest in Cambiaso makes a lot of sense. The fact that he can play in either fullback position means that he could be signed as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold or Robertson.
