One of Arsenal’s stars has been impressing on international duty.
Many Arsenal stars have been busy representing their nations over the ongoing international break, which is the final of the club season. The Gunners have a big end to the season awaiting them, albeit not the end to the season they would have wanted.
Arsenal are all-but out of the Premier League title race, but they still have the opportunity to win the Champions League, even if they will have to do so without a striker, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out for the season.
Given the bad luck the Gunners have had with injury this season, Mikel Arteta will be praying that all of his players return safe and sound from their international exploits, and if they can return in good form, it’s an even bigger boost. One player who does look set to return in good form is Thomas Partey, who has been Mr utility for the Gunners this season, helping out in midfield and at full-back at times.
Partey played for Ghana on Monday night in their World Cup qualifier, and he brought his shooting boots, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Madagascar. MyJoyOnline gave Partey an 8/10 for his performance, reasoning: “One of the best performers on the pitch for Ghana. He was neat and tidy in possession and also came up with the goods, scoring twice from two headers.”
The win was a big one, with Madagascar second in the group, and the victory means there is now a five-point gap for Ghana over their nearest challengers.
Ghana boss Otto Addo said after the game, as per Ghana Soccer Net: “Like I said, it is not done yet. We still have to work hard. This is football, [and] things can turn very fast, and as a national [team] coach, you always have to wait for some months before you can get the team together to play again.
“I am very happy with the result and the way we played. It’s well deserved, and we are looking forward. We can’t change the past. We have to look forward and use this position in which we are now to qualify for the World Cup.” The game was dubbed a ‘mini-final’ by Addo before the game, and the Black Stars backed up the pre-game talk with a statement win.
Ghana have four games remaining in this stage of the qualifying campaign, and they are looking strong contenders to progress. with the five-point gap, while they are six points ahead of third placed Mali.
