Sporting CP striker Victor Gyokeres has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the club regarding a potential summer transfer. The Swedish international is expected to be allowed to leave if an offer in the range of £50.2 million to £58.5 million is received during the upcoming transfer window.

This development will come as a significant boost to clubs monitoring his situation, including Arsenal as the agreed figure is notably lower than his £83.6 million release clause.

Gyokeres’ current form has been exceptional, with 40 goals in 41 appearances this season, following a remarkable tally of 43 goals in 50 matches during the previous campaign.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from several top European sides following an outstanding spell in Portugal since his move from Coventry City. The Championship club inserted a sell-on clause in the deal, ensuring Sporting would demand a substantial fee for their prolific forward.

With a summer move highly probable, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea have reportedly been informed of the striker’s situation, according to Sky Germany. Manchester City are also aware of the agreement, particularly as Sporting’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, is set to join the Premier League champions.

Despite growing speculation, Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas recently downplayed any certainty over Gyokeres’ departure. When questioned about the striker’s future, Varandas commented, “Gyokeres was leaving in the summer, a year ago, a year and a half ago… Gyokeres was going to leave, anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving.” He added that a January move was “impossible” and refused to further engage in speculation regarding the summer window.

Portuguese outletA Bola has suggested that Gyokeres favours a move to Liverpool, Arsenal, or Manchester City over Manchester United, despite his connection with Red Devils-linked manager Ruben Amorim.

Meanwhile, Sweden head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson has expressed confidence in Gyokeres’ ability to thrive at the highest level. Ahead of Sweden’s match against Northern Ireland, Tomasson stated, “Gyokeres would be fantastic in the Premier League. He could play for any club in the world and would score a lot of goals anywhere. He and [Alexander] Isak are two quite different players, but they’re both world-class strikers.”
