Despite not being a starter for Hansi Flick, the FC Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is having a very good season. The way the frontline of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal is performing, it is quite impossible for another attacking player to make his place in the starting lineup.
Still, the Spaniard is proving himself to be quite an important player. He has already scored 13 goals in all competitions this season and has been particularly effective as a substitute, as 8 of these 13 goals have come when he got on the pitch from the bench.
His good performances this season have convinced the decision-makers at the Catalan club to extend his contract till 2029 and work on this operation is already underway.
SPORT has provided an update on how these negotiations are going, as it reports that although this operation is far from being closed, Barcelona have already come up with the terms of his new proposed contract.
In terms of compensation, the player’s fixed salary will remain the same as it is in his current contract, which expires in 2027, but his bonuses will be increased. Thus, the player will get higher compensation only if he continues to put in good performances going forward.
In addition to his performances, the Blaugrana club is also delighted with the former Manchester City forward’s behaviour, as he has accepted his substitute role and always performs whenever Flick calls on him.
