Report: Napoli set price for Chelsea transfer target Victor Osimhen after Stamford Bridge deadline day saga last summer

Chelsea’s season could have taken a very different look if they had completed one of the moves they were pushing for at the end of the last summer transfer window.

Reports stated that they were keen to sign Victor Osimhen all the way up until the deadline, however were unable to reach a deal on their terms.

This included Chelsea making their best offer just two hours before the window slammed shut, however it wasn’t enough and he went on to move to Galatasaray on loan until the end of the campaign.

The Nigeria international has impressed greatly since moving to Turkey, sitting on 26 goals in all competitions including a very impressive record in Europe before their elimination.

Chelsea told how much they have to pay for Victor Osimhen

Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele urged them to sign Osimhen this summer, and it seems they have now learnt the price they will need to pay if they do want to bring him in.

According to Sky Sports CH, Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to sell him to the highest bidder, with his release clause to foreign clubs at around £62m.

It seems as if his time at the Serie A club is over after former Blues boss Antonio Conte decided he could build his side without the big striker up top.

Victor Osimhen’s stance on joining Chelsea

It is long believed that Osimhen sees Didier Drogba as his idol after his legendary spell at Stamford Bridge.

John Obi Mikel has kept his finger on the pulse of all things surrounding this potential deal, and recently claimed Osimhen is open to joining Chelsea.

The Blues are not the only top side who are interested in signing the striker though, with there likely to be plenty of Europe’s elite clubs looking for a new goalscorer this summer.

Chelsea will be weighing up their options too, with Liam Delap another name who is near the top of their shortlist.
