Everton have been in terrific form since David Moyes made a return to Goodison Park this season and are unbeaten in nine games.
Therefore, the international break may have come at a frustrating time for the Toffees who would not have wanted their momentum to have been disrupted.
With Vitaliy Mykolenko having picked up an injury while on international duty with Ukraine, it shows the risk that a break can have at this stage in the season, with the defender set for an MRI scan.
Jordan Pickford will return with two more caps and clean sheets to his name, though, as England eased to wins over Albania and Latvia.

Pickford expectedly played the full 180 minutes in England’s two international games, even with Thomas Tuchel replacing Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions’ number one picked up two clean sheets as England beat Albania 2-0 on Friday (21 March) before seeing off Latvia 3-0 on Monday night (24 March).
Admittedly, Pickford didn’t have too much to do against Latvia and did not find himself called into action throughout the night.

Jordan Pickford did not have the busiest night against Latvia.
There was a nervy moment after a defensive mix-up with Marc Guehi, which gave the opponents a great opportunity to score, but Vladislavs Gutkovskis could not provide the finishing touch.
Pickford did attract some criticism for this, but his England teammates seemingly retain their trust in the 31-year-old.
The goalkeeper took to Instagram after the game to celebrate another victory and clean sheet for his side, with Henderson responding with a strong arm emoji.
Everton to finish the season on a high
The impact Moyes has had was exactly what was needed on Merseyside, and despite being just one point clear when Sean Dyche left Goodison, Everton are now 17 points clear of the drop.
With a move to Bramley-Moore Dock coming at the end of the campaign and a first proper transfer window under The Friedkin Group, supporters will no doubt be looking forward to what’s coming next.
There have been suggestions that Moyes could take the Blues right up the Premier League table, similar to what Nottingham Forest have shown this season.
However, the Scotsman won’t want to get too ahead of himself just yet and instead will be looking to finish the season in the same good form they entered the break in.
The first game on their return to domestic football is against Henderson’s former side, with a Merseyside Derby at Anfield, and if Everton can recreate the same drama that was delivered the last time the two sides met, it should be an exciting game.
