The Celtics had a special visitor in attendance at the Golden 1 Center Monday night as new owner Bill Chisholm sat courtside alongside Kings owner Vivek Ranadive for the team’s 113-95 win in Sacramento.
Chisholm, a private equity investor, led a group to purchase the Celtics at a record $6.1 billion evaluation. the team announced on Thursday. The STG co-founder is based in California, giving him the chance to watch his new team in person for the first time since agreeing to the sale.

“Keep doing what you’re doing,” Chisholm said of his message to the team. “And if there’s any way that I and we can play any role to be a little helpful, we’d love to do that. I’m just so proud of what they’ve accomplished and hope to build on it.”
Chisholm also elaborated on what his past few days have been like since
“Honestly, it’s been emotional for me. I mean this is, as a kid growing up in New England to, dreaming about — I didn’t even know to dream about this — and then to have it happen, it was really emotional. To share with my family and shout out to our kids, it was just really special and emotional. I understand what this is about and what it means to the people of Boston because I’m one of them and I’m gonna do it right.”
Chisholm will get his first taste of the TD Garden as an owner when he attends the team’s first two home games at TD Garden following their six-game road trip starting on April 2nd against the Miami Heat.
